Journal Entry #1

1. Since taking photography last year, i have improved on focusing digital cameras. I also now recognize opportunities for creative photos. I view the world differently, due to photography. Simple things, like shadows, reflections, and angles stand out to me.

2. I enjoy taking photos of people, particularly candids, in interesting places. I like shooting city life and nature. However, I dislike landscapes--they are often repetitive and dull.

3. Good photos consists of the nice lighting, interesting angles, clear subjects, good backgrounds, and should follow the composition guidelines. They are visually appealing. Good photos should inspire thought. They say "a picture's worth 1000 words," but now, photos are so easy to take, and sometimes its hard to come up with just 20 words relating to a photo.

4. This year I'm interested in doing more film. I have had some troubles developing film in the past, and I want to correct such errors. I also want to take photos depicting the D.C. area and life around here. I hope to take high quality, intriguing photographs.
